Nashville Flood

May 10, 2010 in Blog, Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Last week something that I never thought would happen happened: I saw my beloved town completely overwhelmed by rain & flash flooding. It was a week of outpouring love, donations, volunteers who sacrificed their time — all for our neighbors in this great city.

Except for a brief stint in college, I’ve lived here my whole life. I grew up here, which is why when I saw the pictures of Opryland Hotel flooded, tears came to my eyes. When I was little, Opryland was where my Grandma & Grandpa would take all the cousins every year to go see all the Christmas lights. The pics below were from last year’s Christmas display.

Last Saturday we were driving home from Mt. Juliet and this was what we saw driving down Nolensville Rd:

I’m so thankful that my friends and family were all safe and that all the outpouring of support for our community has been unbelievable. If you’d like to volunteer here’s more info.

This entire week has just been a blur! I can’t believe it still! Every time I see a new picture or read a new post about the floods, I tear up!

I have a bride that is supposed to be married in October at Opryland. So far there is not a backup plan! :(
